The Serai, Jaisalmer

About the Hotel

The Serai is an ode to peace, to open space, to old-fashioned comforts and elegant design. A luxury camp of 21 tented suites set deep in the tranquil Thar Desert but just an hour from Jaisalmer, it's an impossibly romantic set-up, and perfect for honeymooners.

Accommodation details

The Serai has twenty-one luxurious canvas tents, divided into three categories. There are fourteen 'Tented Suites', each with their own veranda, drawing room, spacious air-conditioned bedroom and, of course, en-suite bathroom, covering an area of about 1100 sq. The six 'Luxury Tented Suites' have in addition, a private walled-in garden with a plunge pool. And, the 'Royal Suite' which boasts its own private spa, pool, and lounge tents is the ultimate in luxury living in the desert! The Dining Tent serves delicious western repasts as well as sumptuous local delicacies, using much home-grown organic produce from the camp's organic vegetable and herb garden.

A campfire is lit every night throughout the winter season, and a bar is set up under the stars. Guests may dine, al-fresco, around the fire or anywhere on our estate. A selection of food and refreshments may also be ordered in the tents. The Tented Library Bar is the ideal place to sink into a comfortable leather club-chair with a book and 'burra-peg'!

The Pool, inspired from the ancient step-wells that dot this region, is a luxury in the Desert...

The Spa, created by the world renowned spa company, 'Raison d'Etre' has four individual treatment tents, set around a garden. The Spa Menu offers a variety of treatments, designed to relax and rejuvenate...

"Take a camel safari, and spot deer, gazelle and birds, such as the rare Indian bustard.

Experience Sun downer on the Dunes: a jeep then camel ride right into the desert, where cocktails and tiffin await you. Sit on a leather safari chair, and watch the dunes change colour as the sun goes down. Take a guided tour of magical Jaisalmer Fort, often called the 'Golden City' due to the gilding of the sandcastle-like fort and havelis by the setting sun. Visit the elaborately carved Jain temples, with their Dilwara style paintings. Explore the textiles, jewellery and Rajasthani mirrored wall-hangings in the market Consult the on-site doctor, then a spa treatment or several to 'align your body clock with the mystical rhythms of Rajasthan'. There's 'the full Serai' (back, neck and shoulders, foot scrub and massage, scrub and wrap), or great sun-wraps to choose from; products used are chemical free, blended from Indian herbs and spices

Laze and read on a pagoda-shaded lounger, and swim in the stunning infinity pool or practice yoga at the pool, on the deck, or beside the water channel which runs between the main tent and main pool."
